🎓 Education
Williamson County Schools is expanding its Parent Academy with a pilot program for pre-k and kindergarten families.
Virtual Zoom sessions at 6:30 p.m. are scheduled from January 29 (Student Independence) to May 7 (Parents as Learning Coaches) to offer guidance on early learning.
The WCS Superintendent’s Report detailed the School Board’s actions on January 20, including updating winter weather protocols, approving open zone schools, advancing the Innovation Center, setting a reward record, and launching Appreciation Week.

An incoming winter storm with heavy snow and ice is expected to test the Middle Tennessee power grid this weekend.
TVA officials say that after adding 2,000 megawatts and performing maintenance, rolling blackouts are still possible — conservation measures may help if temperatures drop below freezing next week.
The third annual Vanessa Pettigrew Bryan Equal Justice Award was given to forensic social worker Beverly Richardson on Dec.
18 in Franklin. The ceremony honored her work with the 21st Judicial District Public Defender’s Office and marked the award's third anniversary.

Blood Assurance warns that critically low blood supplies may face further drops as winter weather threatens donation drives in Middle Tennessee.
Donors meeting eligibility requirements can give blood now to help hospitals, and January donations come with a special blanket (or a $25 e-gift card for some donors).
