  • The Boots of Honor Memorial is set for May 16 — 20 at Bicentennial Park, where community members will walk among 7,470 combat boots that honor fallen heroes. A Community Day of Remembrance on May 17 from noon to 3 p.m. will feature live music by Brooks Herring, food trucks and ceremonies.  Williamson County Source
  • Firefighters rescued two ducklings trapped in a storm drain in the Meade of Avalon neighborhood after a call for help, & residents cheered as the ducklings were safely handed to a nearby resident today.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Poplar Grove Middle School seventh-grader Max Perkins advanced to the national semifinals of the Mott Million Dollar Challenge with his innovative plant care solution, The Smart Pot. He will pitch his idea in Flint, Michigan, June 15-16 (receiving coaching, travel and a $5,000 award) and could win up to $25,000 total.  Williamson County Source

  • Williamson County officials issued new business licenses from April 27 to May 4 to companies in Franklin and nearby areas (County Clerk records) including food service, construction, and retail sectors.  Williamson County Source

  • Today, Williamson Health features its newest heroes in its Photo of the Day — tiny EMS team members in custom capes and masks — in celebration of National Superhero Day. The image, by Kristi Lloyd Photography, honors local healthcare professionals.  Williamson County Source

  • Bridgestone Arena and the Predators have begun the Broadway 2030 project to upgrade the arena for fans + performers; the initial connectivity improvements will continue as planned upgrades start in summer 2027 and major phases conclude by the 2029-30 season.
