COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Thursday, May 7, the Visit Franklin tourism office and city officials celebrated tourism in Franklin. Guests enjoyed a photo booth, treats from Waldo’s Chicken and Beer and Whitney’s Cookies, and a ring toss game with locally made wine + spirits while officials honored industry leaders and Commissioner Steve Smith.  Williamson Herald
  • Chukkers for Charity will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Riverview Farm in Franklin, featuring Tennessee’s largest charity polo match to benefit Rochelle Center + Saddle Up, with tailgaters arriving at 1 p.m., a ceremony at 2:45 p.m., and the match starting at 3 p.m.  Williamson County Source
  • A FrankTalk session on May 11 reviewed the history of the Franklin Rodeo and previewed its 75th anniversary events. A family kickoff is today at 5:30 p.m. at the Ag Expo Center, and the rodeo runs Thursday through Saturday with new beer sales.  Williamson Herald

  • WCS Superintendent Jason Golden announced on May 12 that Dr. Anthony Johnson, a familiar leader at Allendale Elementary since 2020, will become the principal on July 1. He is known for his strong connections with students, staff & families.  Williamson County Source

  • Williamson Health, Bone and Joint Institute, and Blood Assurance will host a blood drive on Tuesday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Blood Assurance mobile unit in Franklin to boost donations before summer shortages (free T-shirt offered to donors from May 16 to 30).  Williamson County Source

  • At Percy Warner Park on Saturday, ZABEEL CHAMPION — owned by Sean Clancy of Riverdee Stable, ridden by Freddie Proctor and trained by Jack Fisher — surged to victory in the Iroquois Steeplechase before a record crowd of more than 35,000, earning $250,000 from the $730,000 purse.  Williamson County Source
