EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Williamson County School Board approved a new wireless communications policy on June 16 and noted multiple state championships and key budget items — showing wins in track, tennis, and lacrosse — during the meeting. A special-called meeting is scheduled for June 20 at 5 p.m. to discuss additional proposals.  Williamson County Source
  • WCS student-athletes were honored at the 11th Annual WILLCO Awards on June 10 — an event that recognized achievements in over 25 sports categories. Awards such as Student-Athlete of the Year and the Courage Award were given to top performers and coaches — marking a busy night for the schools.  Williamson County Source
  • Abigail Goddard, a Ravenwood High senior and creator of the portable keychain Spikey, is one of five finalists in the National Pitch Contest and will take the stage on July 10 in Chicago—where finalists will pitch their ideas for seed money.  Williamson County Source
  • Today, WCS Student Support Services Department has launched a new Resource Hub for families that offers tools and information to navigate special education services — the site highlights summer sensory activities and will be updated with more resources over time.  Williamson County Source

  • Hattie B’s at The Factory in Franklin will offer a new weekend brunch menu with bold Southern flavors + it will serve it from Friday to Sunday between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Customers will try dishes such as the Ultimate Hot Chicken Biscuit and Hot Chicken and Waffle Stack and then explore the historic space nearby.  Williamson County Source
