Franklin Whataburger will host a back-to-school event on August 1 from 9 a.m. to noon where 500 free backpacks will be given to children with a DJ, games & an interactive backpack personalization area.

Other locations will hold smaller events with free burger coupons when school supplies are donated.

Franklin Spice Works, formerly Savory Spice Shop at 324 Main Street, will rebrand on July 28 — continuing its high-quality spices with updated packaging and new custom blends; a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for later this summer.

Six live shows are scheduled this week, including Hilary Duff on Wed, July 29 at FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin and the Franklin Summer Bash on Aug.

1 at The Factory; other acts—Barry Manilow, Bob Dylan, Vince Gill, and Dirty Heads—will perform at Nashville venues on Aug. 1.

Harken Hall hosts Rix Roundup—a western swing ranch party—with dance lessons and live music on Saturday, Aug.

8; doors open at 5 p.m., dance lessons begin at 6 p.m., and performances by The Jobros and Rick Jobe and the Wonderin’ Cowboys follow, with tickets at $25 in advance or $30 at the door.

Parents should review new Tennessee school policies and tax-free weekend rules released for the upcoming school year as local schools prepare for classes, since these changes may affect how families plan both academics and shopping trips.
