  • Franklin teacher Jennifer Henderson delivered 21 handmade stuffed animals to the police to help comfort children after traumatic events. Police officers will keep the animals in their patrol vehicles—using them during difficult moments to offer a small sign of care.  Williamson Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • At a DFA meeting on Aug. 7, Franklin leaders introduced Art Heist—a fall search-and-find event in downtown Franklin where participants pick up a brief at the Visitor’s Center and submit it for a chance to win local gift cards. The Heritage Foundation announced its 52nd Annual Heritage Ball will be held on Oct. 4 at the Old Old Jail, and donations may be dropped off at 112 Bridge St. until Aug. 15—helping to support local preservation efforts.  Williamson Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After 33 years of moving from building to building, Franklin Classical School found a permanent home at 1021 Windcross Court — a 65,466-square-foot building on 6.34 acres in Cool Springs that is now being renovated to serve its K–12 classical Christian program.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin Fire Department received the Excellence in Fire Services Award on Aug. 5 in Chattanooga for its Behavioral Health and Wellness Program that supports firefighter mental health. The program—developed with citywide wellness initiatives led by Mayor Ken Moore and Fire Engineer Emily Nelms—is setting a new standard for supporting first responders.  Williamson Herald
  • Deanna Lambert was appointed to the Franklin Transit Authority and plans to use her over 20 years of experience in communications, government, and transportation to improve local transit. Chairman John Schroer said her appointment will enhance public trust through clear, community-focused engagement.  Williamson Herald
