  • Today, the 21st annual Williamson County Fair hosts the Hometown Heroes Recognition Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on the Nissan Stage to honor nominated veterans who serve their country and community (with a performance by The Gibson Girls and remarks from Brigadier General Kurt Winstead) while later the fair marks Patriot Day by offering free admission to active and retired military with a valid ID.  Williamson County Source

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Williamson County issued new business licenses between August 1—August 8 for ventures such as restaurants, retail, and construction across Franklin, Brentwood, and Thompsons Station. The Tennessee County Clerk recorded these licenses to update local business operations.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franklin Tomorrow is hosting its August FrankTalks on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Columbia State College’s Williamson County campus, where Superintendent Jason Golden plus his leadership team will share insights on the 2025 Williamson County Education Outlook and the start of the school year. The free event will begin with a 30-minute coffee social at 9 a.m. followed by an hour-long program starting at 9:30.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Franklin Police Department’s Traffic Unit won three top state awards at Friday's Tennessee Highway Safety Office ceremony. The unit received the Overall Winner Award, won in the 101-200 Officers category, and earned the Regional Award for Middle Tennessee for a second consecutive year.  Williamson County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Williamson County Opioid Task Force will allocate over $1 million in community grants from opioid settlement funds to fight the opioid crisis. Applications are now open for organizations, and the grants will support prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts such as naloxone distribution + youth prevention.  Williamson Herald
