COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Franklin reopened the Main Barn at Harlinsdale Farm on August 19 after renovations updated the roof, siding, ADA parking and event spaces. City staff worked with the State Historic Preservation Office, Kimley Horn and Friends of Franklin Parks—helping the barn keep its historic look.  Williamson County Source

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Tweeds Suit Shop opened its first Tennessee location in downtown Franklin at 177 5th Avenue North and will host private fittings and events this fall—local consultant Drew has already provided custom consultations for country music artists.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On August 18, the Williamson County School Board met and Superintendent Jason Golden thanked board members and public speakers while emphasizing school safety and honoring student achievements such as six perfect ACT composite scores, a first-place pitch winner and a track award. The board approved budget items, policies and meeting minutes and set the next meeting for September 15.  Williamson County Source
  • Williamson County Schools will host a public meeting to explain the Family Life Curriculum on Thursday, September 4 at 5 p.m. at the Professional Development Center at 1761 West Main Street in Franklin—district representatives will take questions from the public.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Franklin Police Department today relaunched its Chaplain Program and is inviting ordained volunteer chaplains to offer spiritual support to officers, staff, and community members during tough incidents and joyful moments. Interested clergy must be ready to serve on-call, attend training, and contact the Public Affairs Office for further details — all who qualify are encouraged to apply.  Williamson County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health inspectors in Williamson County released scores from August 13 to August 20 for several local sites including food service venues, schools, and pools—scores that are posted for public review—and the routine checks help ensure safety standards are met.  Williamson County Source
  • Food service establishments in Williamson County received the lowest food health scores from routine inspections done August 13 to 20+ sites such as Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe, Sunny China and Garcia's recorded the low scores while the health department says businesses must display their inspection reports for public view.  Williamson County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Williamson County Schools began a new fall sports season today as middle and high school athletes compete in cross-country, football, golf, soccer, volleyball and other sports. WCS Athletics Director Patrick Whitlock said the season will last 32 consecutive weeks.  Williamson County Source
