COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nonprofit leaders joined Sen. Jack Johnson and about 50 attendees at a roundtable on Sept. 12 at Columbia State Community College’s Williamson Campus to discuss advocacy strategies for various causes. Representatives from groups including Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury stressed coalition building—while two nonprofits received a $15,000 grant to support home repairs and affordable housing.  Williamson Herald

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Franklin Firefighters responded at 12:06 p.m. on Friday to a reported structure fire at CoolSprings Galleria and determined a minor electrical issue caused the alarm; the mall was evacuated and reopened within about 30 minutes with no injuries or significant damage.  Williamson County Source

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Silver Fox Coffee Lounge will open its first Williamson County location at CityPark in Brentwood later this fall with quality coffee & freshly baked pastries. Co-owners Todd and Danielle Barnett plan to offer popular choices like the honey lavender latte & specialty avocado toast to meet local demand.  Williamson County Source
  • Slim and Husky’s held a ribbon-cutting at its new location inside The Factory at Franklin on September 12—co-founders Clint Gray, Derrick Moore, and EJ Reed, who started the business in 2015 to drive social change, opened the venue—where students can join the Reading is Dope program to earn prizes.  Williamson County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chukkers for Charity held its 29th annual event in Franklin on Sept. 6 where teams competed for charity—with The Anderson Group winning overall, Aaron Barrett earning MVP and Sophie Grant taking Best Playing Pony. The festive event supported Rochelle Center and Saddle Up while celebrating a 'Fiesta on the Field' theme.  Williamson County Source
