About this event
The 16th annual Tennessee Local Food Summit comes to Tennessee State University’s Avon Williams Campus, bringing together farmers, ranchers, food system advocates, educators, and researchers for three days of programming around this year’s theme, “Reimagining Our Food Systems.” Keynote speakers include Leah Penniman, Co-Founder & Farm Director of Soul Fire Farm and author of Farming While Black and Black Earth Wisdom, and award-winning writer Nancy Matsumoto, author of Reaping What She Sows: How Women Are Rebuilding Our Broken Food Systems. Throughout the weekend, attendees can enjoy farm-to-table meals sourced from local growers and purveyors, a vendor trade show, and a seed swap and social, along with a Friday evening reception and afterparty at the Nashville Farmers Market and Sunday farm tours at the TSU Farm and The Welcome Garden. New this year, the summit introduces its first-ever Youth Track for high school students interested in agriculture and food systems, as well as free childcare for children ages 3–12 with advance registration. The summit is open to the public, with tickets available online.
