- ➤ Leadership Franklin marked 30 years by naming Brandy Blanton as its new board chair to succeed Julian Bibb III. A special celebration will be held on July 30 at Bicentennial Park. Williamson Herald
- ➤ The First Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin will host an MLK Day celebration on Monday, Jan. 19 with an 11 a.m. ceremony and a soul food luncheon (at the Williamson County Enrichment Center) featuring Fairfield Four and guest speaker Pastor Terrence Schofield. Williamson Herald

- ➤ Former Franklin Fire Captain Bill Almon (49) died on Jan. 15 after battling brain cancer, having served the department for 27 years and leaving a lasting legacy for the community. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Franklin Mayor Ken Moore honored the local school board on Monday during a regular meeting, declaring the week of Jan. 25 as School Board Appreciation Week (crediting the board for boosting record graduation rates) and noting rising youth civic involvement. Williamson Herald
- ➤ Several road improvement projects will trigger lane closures across Middle Tennessee highways from January 18 to January 24. Commuters are advised to plan ahead as work includes streetlight conversions, bridge inspections & utility relocations on I-24, I-65 and other key routes. Williamson County Source
