COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Franklin Fire Department mourns the loss of retired Captain Bill Almon, who died Jan. 15 after battling brain cancer. His funeral is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 19 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home — a service that will feature a Last Ride procession through the city.  Williamson Herald
  • Carole Robinson received a national award from Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1140 in Franklin today. The newspaper journalist was honored for her years of covering and helping local veterans (she attended nearly every event) while her family shared the heartfelt moment.  Williamson Herald

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A mobile home fire at Franklin Estates Mobile Home Park (1501 West Main Street) displaced a family of three early Thursday as firefighters rescued all occupants and two pets with no injuries, and investigators reviewed a possible electrical or HVAC malfunction while the American Red Cross assisted the displaced family.  Williamson County Source

  • Chipotle will open its newest location at 1711 Galleria Boulevard on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 10:45 a.m., offering a high protein menu and build-your-own meals while also hiring for about 30 positions — students can enroll in the Chipotle U Rewards program for bonus points.  Williamson County Source
  • A new Dunkin’ Donuts is being built in Franklin at the former Shoney’s location (1306 Highway 96 East) and will open in spring 2026, expanding the chain from (four) to five local spots.  Williamson County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • Franklin celebrated Benjamin Franklin’s 320th birthday yesterday at Franklin Theatre and continues to honor his legacy today with a statue unveiling at the Archives and Museum and a book signing at St. Paul’s. The celebrations extend into Monday with a talk and performance at Moore-Morris History and Culture Center.  Williamson County Source

  • Ruby Slipper unveiled a Carnival Menu with New Orleans-inspired brunch dishes available from Jan. 14 to Feb. 24 across all locations. The menu (featuring King Cake Beignets, Ooh-Bae Stuffed French Toast and a Krewe-Berry Margarita) brings festive flavors to local diners.  Williamson County Source
