EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Creekside Elementary students are headed to the state robotics championship on Feb. 28 in Hendersonville after winning several awards at the VEX IQ event on Jan. 17; Team 37064D (comprising Namasvi Narra, Aaron Singh, and Michael Cole) earned top honors and a third ranking statewide. - ➤ WCS middle school students from Mill Creek and Page Middle shone at the International Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, earning awards (top stage performance and excellence in acting) that highlight strong teamwork and exceptional talent. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Hunter’s Bend hosted the inaugural Elementary Art Throwdown on Wednesday, Jan. 21, where three students per school competed in portraits, sculpture, or abstract thinking and teachers joined a friendly contest (WCS Fine Arts Director Mark Kinzer praised the event's boost to arts education). - ➤ Williamson County Schools thanked local volunteers who helped staff warming shelters at Fairview High and Franklin High after an ice storm left thousands without power. - ➤ Today, TDCI and the SFMO expanded the Get Alarmed Tennessee program to offer free carbon monoxide detectors along with smoke alarms following Winter Storm Fern.
