CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On March 27, federal prosecutors sentenced 27 defendants for their roles in a prison-based drug ring that trafficked drugs and laundered money from behind bars to middle Tennessee and beyond—authorities said the multiagency investigation spanned from 2018 to 2021. Williamson County Source
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On March 1, WCS middle school forensics students ended their season at the Commando Invitational in Hendersonville. The Sunset Middle team took first place and will represent WCS at the National Speech & Debate Association tournament in Des Moines in June. Williamson County Source
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TDOT will close the ramp from I-840 eastbound to I-24 eastbound at Exit 53 A today at 8 p.m. until noon on Sunday for concrete repairs—motorists must use a detour to the next exit with warning signs in place. Williamson County Source
- ➤ From March 27 to April 2, multiple road projects in Middle Tennessee will result in scheduled lane closures on major routes such as I-24, I-40 and I-65—drivers should expect alternating lane closures, detours and lane shifts with most work taking place nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., while some projects will also cause daytime closures for utility and digital sign replacements.
