BUSINESS NEWS

  • Slice House by Tony Gemignani will open its first Tennessee location on April 19 at 98 E Main Street in downtown Franklin—starting at 11 a.m., the event will feature Tony Gemignani’s special appearance, book signings, a free hat giveaway, and a raffle for free pizza for one year. Tyler Ichien operates the new branch, which will serve award-winning pizzas and a specialty flavor called The Lawdog.  Williamson County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • A family-friendly Mother's Day Hootenanny featuring award-winning Americana musician Farmer Jason (also known as Jason Ringenberg of Jason and the Scorchers) will be held on May 10th (10 am to 12:30 pm) at Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary; live music starts at 11 am and families may arrive early to see owls and enjoy kids’ activities.  Williamson County Source
  • Donna Vissman interviewed Mattie Pruitt, an Eagleville teen and current American Idol contestant, on Morning Source. Pruitt will perform Monday, April 14th and fans may vote to keep her on the show.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rising seventh and eighth grade girls are invited to join Emerging Careers Summer Camp from May 27-30 at the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center at 104 Claude Yates Drive in Franklin—campers will learn about non-traditional career paths from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily in areas like hospitality, digital marketing and sports medicine—and registration costs $60 per person with support from a donation by ATMOS Energy.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin Police Department welcomed Officer Frank Scalise, who was sworn in by Police Chief Deb Faulkner at the police headquarters on Wednesday afternoon. Scalise is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga—he comes from a family of police officers—and his family, friends, and department members celebrated the ceremony.  Williamson County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday night, the Nashville Sounds shut out the Redbirds 3-0 as Logan Henderson struck out eight in five innings and Deivi Garcia pitched three clean frames. Ernesto Martinez Jr. delivered clutch RBI singles while the bullpen extended its scoreless streak to 38 innings—marking the second straight shutout for the team.  Williamson County Source
  • Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz signed goaltender Matt Murray on April 9 to a two-year, two-way contract guaranteeing NHL play in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons—the contract is worth $775,000. Murray posted a 25-10-5 record with a .930 save percentage and a 2.15 goals-against average in 40 games with the Milwaukee Admirals this season.  Williamson County Source
