COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Franklin Police Department honored a 7-year-old boy who saved his aunt’s life by calling 9-1-1 after she suffered a seizure on April 5—Chief Deb Faulkner said his quick thinking made him the youngest person to receive the Citizen Commendation Certificate. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Station 24 will host its open house on April 26 (from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) at 2646 Goose Creek Bypass, Franklin. Officials will display emergency vehicles such as helicopters, fire trucks, ambulances and police cars (with free hot dogs from Atmos Energy) and answer visitor questions. Williamson County Source
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Franklin-based artist JASE will debut Embassy — a one-night immersive art experience blending large original works and storytelling — on Saturday, April 26th at 7 PM in Leipers Fork. The event will attract over 100 designers, collectors and community leaders seeking to connect. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Pilgrimage Festival has unveiled its lineup for its 2025 event at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin with performers including John Mayer and Kings of Leon set to perform from September 27th to 28th. Ticket sales start today at 10 a.m.—general admission two-day tickets begin at $199. Williamson County Source
- ➤ On April 8th, the We Love Christian Music Awards took place at Liberty Hall at The Factory in Franklin—winners were honored in 22 categories amid live performances and red carpet events. Terrian won Song of the Year for her acoustic performance and Seventh Day Slumber earned Rock/Alternative Song of the Year while Hannah Kerr was named Female Artist of the Year. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Heritage Elementary students are delivering about 300 eggs with handwritten notes and sweet treats to Williamson Health first responders during the first three weeks of April — many EMTs share photos of the surprise gifts that boost their morale. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Williamson County Schools opened the spring TCAP testing window this week and will close testing on May 2. Each school sets its own schedule and students in different grades test on paper or online—teachers ask if extra time is needed while some third graders may need to retake the English test if scores are low. - ➤ Williamson County speech and debate students qualified for the NSDA National Tournament, set for June 14th to 21st in Des Moines after winning state events at Cookeville High. Brentwood High earned the Leading Chapter Award and its coach was named NSDA Assistant Coach of the Year—additional awards and alternate qualifiers were also announced. Williamson County Source
- ➤ In March, bands and orchestras across Williamson County took part in the MTSBOA Concert Performance Assessment—an event where ensembles performed selections and completed sight-reading for a panel of judges. Schools including Franklin High and Summit High earned high ratings as many groups achieved top scores. Williamson County Source
