- ➤ On April 15, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation dedicated three mortgage-free smart homes in Franklin to injured veterans, including Army Sgt.-Kevin Gatson, Marine Corps Cpl.-Travis Dodson and Marine Corps LCpl.-Eli Tice, and the homes are designed to support their independence and community living. - ➤ Visit Franklin held a ribbon cutting at its new satellite location at The Factory at Franklin today. The visitor center offers a curated gift selection, plan-your-trip wall, and ticket sales for local attractions — it is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Williamson County Source
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Lotz House is relaunching its Hands on History Cellar Tour on Saturday, April 25, led by historian Tony Morreale, who will guide small groups through a tour that highlights Civil War relics uncovered in a 2013 excavation (reservations are required at the Columbia Avenue site). - ➤ The Woodlawn Jazz Trio will perform Disney favorites given a jazz twist at The Franklin Theatre on Apr. 23 at 7 p.m. The show will blend 1930s swing with modern arrangements to evoke nostalgia. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Chris and Taylor Malpass will perform at the Franklin Theatre on April 30 at 7 p.m. Hand-picked by Merle Haggard, the duo brings their authentic country sound from RFD-TV + Grand Ole Opry to the local stage. Williamson County Source
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fairview High FFA is hosting its annual plant sale at the school's greenhouse. The event runs from April 14 to 17 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from April 21 to 24 from noon to 3:30 p.m. offering a variety of spring plants. Williamson County Source
- ➤ CCTE offers several summer camp options at the WCS Entrepreneurship Center at 104 Claude Yates Drive. Rising third to fifth graders and a family member can join a robot-building competition camp on May 26-29 from 6-8:30 p.m. and STEM camps for younger and middle school students on June 1-4. - ➤ The Double Arch Bridge on Natchez Trace will close over the next year to add a permanent pedestrian barrier following more than 40 suicides since its construction. Construction is expected to last through spring 2027 (a 7-mile detour will be available). WSMV 4
