COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Downtown Franklin will host the 41st Main Street Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, and it will feature 150 vendors, food trucks, live music and children’s activities to celebrate local culture. New attractions include a VIP picnic on the lawn outside St. Philip Catholic Church and a Festival of Lights Parade—both set to offer a fresh twist to the traditional event.  Williamson Herald

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Perenn Bakery, owned by Aubrey and Tyler O’Laskey, will open its new downtown Franklin location on May 24 — it is located at 94 E Main Street next to Slice House and will combine a restaurant, bakery and grocery store with café-style pastries, artisanal breads and market-fresh breakfast options. A second Tennessee location is planned for Oak Hill later this summer.  Williamson County Source
  • On April 23rd, Morning Source's Donna Vissman interviewed Kate from Maple Street Biscuit Company + the Cracker Barrel-owned spot that recently introduced a new $10 lunch menu offering affordable meal choices from breakfast to lunch.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 21, the Williamson County School Board met to review student awards, honor teachers and coaches, and approve a new budget that funds renovations and projects—Superintendent Jason Golden thanked public speakers and noted the next meeting is scheduled for May 19 at 6:30 p.m.  Williamson County Source
  • Vidula Kalathur, a seventh grader at Woodland Middle, earned a spot to represent Tennessee at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. in May—she won a regional contest with students from over 40 counties, proving her strong spelling skills.  Williamson County Source
  • Page High National Honor Society will host a gala tomorrow from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Page High School on 6281 Arno Road in Franklin—dubbed 'Nashville Nights: No Child Left Behind,' the event will benefit Live Love Nashville and offers pre-sale tickets at $16.75 for students and $22 for adults with day-of tickets at $25.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials will break ground on Phase Four of the East McEwen Road improvement project Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the end of Garden Club Court near the roundabout where East McEwen Road meets Oxford Glen Drive and Cool Springs Boulevard — the project will widen two-and-a-half miles to create a four-lane, median-divided road with new turn lanes, curbs, gutters, street lighting, a multi-use path and sidewalks, and is expected to take three years at a cost of $45.8 million, with $30 million coming from federal grants.  Williamson Herald
