COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Thursday, May 1, Williamson County CASA raised over $120,000 at its Voices for Children gala to support advocacy for more than 325 children amid federal funding cuts—executive director Stuart Tutler urged local lawmakers to help maintain these essential services.  Williamson Herald
  • Residents in Williamson County will enjoy events this weekend with the Franklin Rodeo Parade at noon, a Mother’s Day Hootenanny from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., an Arts and Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a Journey Tribute Band performance at 8 p.m. on Saturday—while earlier this week the Renaissance Festival offered a 16th-century market experience on May 3 and 4.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Centennial High FBLA students showed their leadership skills at the Tennessee FBLA State Leadership Conference in April—Alex Schindley won first place in Introduction to Marketing Concepts. Top performers will advance to compete at the national level this summer.  Williamson County Source
  • WCS will host an ACT workshop at Franklin High from June 16th to June 20th from 1 to 4 p.m. and a PSAT workshop at Independence High from July 14th to July 17th from 1 to 4 p.m. — Both sessions cost $150 for the ACT and $100 for the PSAT and will teach students test content, strategies and tips for success.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rodney Ballington is retiring after 25 years with the Franklin Fire Department—he served mainly at Station 2 and earned awards for his work fighting fires. He will work full-time selling fire trucks and looks forward to spending more time with his family as he becomes a grandfather in July.  Williamson Herald
