COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Memorial Day weekend offers many family events from May 23rd to May 26th, including a Renaissance Festival in Arrington, free tours and live music at the Ryman, and the season-opening of Nashville Shores water park. Local communities will also hold patriotic ceremonies in Franklin and Spring Hill along with sports events like a 5K Dash and a Nashville Sounds game to honor veterans and bring families together. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At the Tennessee Performing Arts Center on May 17, high school theater programs earned multiple Spotlight Awards – Summit High's Kaydence Arora was named Outstanding Lead Performer and Brentwood High’s Reagan Schmicker received Outstanding Comedic Performer. The event celebrated achievements in design, performance, and technical work from schools across Williamson County. Williamson County Source
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Demolition of the old City Hall in downtown Franklin began May 22 as the city advances plans for a new state-of-the-art facility with updated office space, public meeting areas and commercial tenants on the historic Public Square. The redevelopment will add a park, an underground parking garage and streetscape improvements along 3rd Avenue S—completion is expected in 2027. Williamson County Source
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Titans signed rookie quarterback Cam Ward to his contract today; he is the seventh of nine draft picks to sign with the team. Selected first overall, Ward participated in the offseason program after rookie minicamp and will join team activities next week—he played five seasons at Incarnate Word, Washington State and Miami where he set NCAA records. - ➤ Three WCS lacrosse teams have become the first TSSAA State title holders by winning championships in their classes. The Page High girls team won Class A, the Brentwood High girls team won Class AA, and the Nolensville High boys team won Class AA—each coach praised their players for their hard work.
