COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Murfreesboro war hero Capt. Horace N. Stogner Jr.—who earned a Silver Star, four Bronze Stars with three for valor, and three Purple Hearts during Vietnam—will be honored tomorrow by the Nashville Sounds at First Horizon Park during the True Blue Day and Salute to Armed Forces game presented by MTSU.  Williamson County Source
  • AAA has activated its Tow to Go service in Tennessee to help drivers who are too impaired to drive — the service runs from 6 p.m. Friday, May 23 to 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 and offers a free ride for both the person and their car to a safe spot within 10 miles.  Williamson County Source

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Tennessee County Clerk released business licenses for new companies in Williamson County from May 16th to May 23rd, 2025, listing firms that offer home renovation, personal care, roofing, and cleaning services in communities like Franklin, Brentwood, and Nolensville—adding a range of services to the local market.  Williamson County Source
  • Perenn Bakery will open May 31 at 94 E Main Street in downtown Franklin, introducing a new space set to offer breakfast, bakery items, and an evening dinner option. The bakery is owned by husband-and-wife team Aubrey and Tyler O’Laskey—who also run other locations in Nevada, Claio, and Reno—and a second Tennessee location is planned for Oak Hill this summer.  Williamson County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wilco Iris will host its first Made in Light event on June 5 from 4-7 p.m. at Gallery 202 in Franklin—featuring a student art exhibit, live music, a silent auction, cocktails, and light food to help raise funds for a permanent location; the event is free and open to the public.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin has launched Frankie, a fully integrated multilingual web chat assistant developed in partnership with Citibot to offer residents fast answers and direct contact with city staff through the city website. The automated service is available 24/7 and supports 75 languages—improving access to local government information.  Williamson County Source
  • The Williamson County Memorial Day Ceremony will be held Monday, May 26 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Veterans Memorial Park (611 W. Main Street) in downtown Franklin and will feature officers from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, Independence High School JROTC, and the Community Band. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs (limited seating available) and to plan for the outdoor event based on the weather forecast.  Williamson County Source
  • Franklin Police Department launched a public service campaign called Give Tailgating a Brake to remind drivers to leave more space and prevent rear-end collisions — officers are placing signs in areas with frequent crashes based on 2024 data showing tailgating was a top factor in 692 incidents. Officers also advise drivers to use the Three-Second Rule, slow down in poor conditions, and stay alert to improve road safety.  Williamson County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Blood Assurance is asking Middle Tennessee donors to give blood during the busy summer months—when trauma cases rise. The organization needs over 540 donations each day and is offering free t-shirts and e-gift cards for donations before May 31 and in June.  Williamson County Source
