  • Blood Assurance is hosting a special blood drive at CoolSprings Galleria on Friday, July 18 from 12 to 6 p.m. at the mall’s JCPenney common area in Franklin—donors receive a $20 e-gift card or $25 for an O-negative donation, with appointments encouraged and walk-ins welcome.  Williamson Herald

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Franklin Fire Marshal Andy King said the July 11 fire at Granite City Food & Brewery started in combustible mulch beside the building, which violated local fire code and led to about $1.3 million in damage while heavy smoke and flames forced a hotel evacuation and resulted in two hotel guests and one restaurant employee being treated.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franklin Special District students scored in the top 10% statewide on the 2024—2025 TCAP tests with double-digit gains in English language arts, math, science, and social studies over state averages. Instructional teams are analyzing the results to refine strategies as individual scores will be available to families by the end of July.  Williamson County Source

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On May 28th, 2025, TennGreen Land Conservancy and local owners Dr. Joseph A. Little, III and Billie B. Little finalized the Basin Spring Conservation Easement to permanently protect over 100 acres (100.38 acres) of ecologically valuable land in Williamson County, safeguarding ridgelines, rare species and waterways like Bedford Creek. The easement preserves a historic cemetery and connects with nearby natural areas for long-term conservation benefits.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation announced $22 million in grants to support park and outdoor projects in 31 communities including Williamson County. The funds from the Local Parks and Recreation Fund, the Tennessee Recreation Initiative Program and the Recreational Trails Program will improve areas like College Grove Park and Wilkins Branch Mountain Bike Park—helping local governments expand facilities and trails.  Williamson Herald
  • The City of Franklin announced the retirement of Tracy Harness after 25 years of service, noting she began her work on March 6 as an administrative secretary and advanced to Benefits Supervisor. Officials praised her lasting impact and stated she will now enjoy more time with her family and slower mornings on the porch — a change she welcomed.  Williamson County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Monday night, Williamson Health announced it is starting a strategic planning process to study options including a potential sale to meet rising costs and staffing challenges—its board still prefers to remain independent. The organization will send out a Request for Proposal to local, regional, and national partners and review proposals this fall for a process that may take 12 to 36 months—any funds from a sale will pay off debts and support local care.  Williamson Herald
