  • Franklin will unveil its first permanent public artwork on the Harlinsdale Farm Pedestrian Bridge on July 29 at 10 a.m. at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm, 331 Franklin Road — the ceremony will feature remarks from Mayor Ken Moore, the Public Arts Commission and artist Michael McLaughlin to celebrate the region's equestrian heritage and natural beauty.  Williamson Herald
  • Franklin-based One Generation Away has hired Cynthia Stielow as its new Chief Advancement officer & Marketing officer to boost the fight against food insecurity across the Southeast. She brings 30 years of nonprofit experience from roles at Heritage Foundation and Kids' Meals Inc where she led large fundraising campaigns.  Williamson Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • Franklin police arrested Kirk West — 58 — on Thursday at Nashville International Airport after he allegedly stole hundreds of thousands in cash and millions in cryptocurrency from his ex-girlfriend, and his bond is set at $1 million.  Williamson County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franklin residents may shop tax-free during Tennessee's sales tax weekend, which runs from July 25 to 27—eligible items include school and art supplies costing $100 or less and personal computers or tablets priced up to $1,500. Most elementary and middle school supply lists are available online, while high school lists may be updated after classes start on August 4.  Williamson County Source
  • The 2025-26 school year will start with a half-day on Monday, August 4 for first through twelfth-grade students — details on start times, dismissal times and planned early releases and late starts are available on the WCS website.  Williamson County Source
  • Families may register for fall 2025 Spanish classes for elementary students in the Elementary World Language Program, which will run for 12 weeks beginning August 18 and ending the week of November 10. Registration costs $100 per student — morning classes run from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions follow dismissal, with enrollment closing on August 1.  Williamson County Source
  • WCS families must complete a First Day Form (which includes a fee waiver request and an option for mature reading list access) by August 5 for the 2025-26 school year. The form has been available since July 14 and must be submitted via a Skyward account (using a desktop or laptop computer).  Williamson County Source
