- ➤ Culinary Dropout will open its first Tennessee location on Wednesday, September 10 at McEwen’s Northside on Aspen Grove Drive in Franklin and will serve classic comfort food along with live music. The restaurant will feature a headlining performance by Levi Hummon on Saturday, September 13 from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.—the first 50 guests with reservations on opening day will receive an exclusive meet-and-greet. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Williamson County Schools Communications Department received the NSPRA Gold Medallion Award in July for its Golden Mentors campaign that connects senior volunteers with elementary students in Spring Hill schools — the program will resume this fall with opportunities for new volunteers. - ➤ Williamson County Schools held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 10th to open Brentwood Middle School's new building that now has 72 classrooms for students—this project, completed in two construction phases starting in 2022, replaced parts of the old facility along Granny White Pike. - ➤ Tanger Outlets Nashville has invited schools to apply for its TangerKids Grants Program for the 2025/26 academic year by accepting applications from Aug. 11 to Oct. 18—supporting a long history of funding initiatives that help underserved schools and student needs. Williamson County Source
- ➤ WCS Parent Academy returns to help families understand post-secondary steps and will host free Zoom sessions in August and September—covering topics like ACT changes, writing requirements, and special services for students. - ➤ Eighth grader Aditi Venmani from Sunset Middle traveled to Orlando this summer to compete at the Junior Beta National Convention after winning the state Speech Junior category and placing fifth nationally—her trip shows how the Beta Club helps students build leadership skills and serve the community. - ➤ Several middle and high school students competed at the National Speech and Debate Association tournament over the summer. Nolensville High’s Jonathan Okokhere placed fifth in the Congressional Debate—House category while Brentwood High’s Meredith Yount and Jasmine Merrikh placed tenth in Public Forum Debate and Sunset Middle’s Aditi Venmani became a semifinalist in Original Oratory.
