  • Early bird tickets are on sale for The Factory at Franklin’s New Year’s Eve celebration at Liberty Hall on December 31, 2025 — the event features live music by The Smoking Section Band, trivia, heavy appetizers and a champagne toast from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with tickets costing $125 each.  Williamson County Source

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Williamson County released new business licenses from August 29 to September 5 as provided by the Tennessee County Clerk—these licenses include permits for dermatology clinics, hair studios, construction companies, and other local businesses serving Franklin and nearby communities.  Williamson County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • Better Than Ezra, a platinum rock band with a 37-year career, will make their Grand Ole Opry debut on September 24 — marking an important milestone as they join a lineup with Maggie Rose, Flatland Cavalry, and Gary Mule Deer. The band will also perform at the Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival in Franklin on September 27 and 28.  Williamson County Source

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A GasBuddy survey of 3,821 stations showed that Tennessee gasoline prices rose by 5.4 cents to $2.73 per gallon on Monday, with Rutherford County prices reaching $2.76 per gallon plus Bedford County at $2.73 and Williamson County at $3.11 per gallon. The national average for gasoline fell by 2.6 cents to $3.03, while diesel prices declined to $3.52 per gallon.  WGNS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin was honored with the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 25/26 budget — the award reflects that the city met national guidelines for clear budgeting. City Administrator Eric Stuckey credited the Budget and Performance team, led by Michael Walters Young, for their hard work in this achievement.  Williamson County Source
  • Gary Humble, executive director of Tennessee Stands, announced his candidacy for State Senate District 27 in Franklin and will challenge incumbent Jack Johnson after a close race in 2022. He will kick off his campaign on Oct. 17 in Franklin — an event hosted by Dave Ramsey.  Williamson Herald
  • Franklin has hired Walter Denton as the new assistant city administrator for Community and Economic Development; he brings 33 years of local government experience and will start on Oct.13—filling the role left by retiring Vernon Gerth. City Administrator Eric Stuckey praised Denton in a press release following a countrywide search.  Williamson Herald
  • Franklin’s Finance team was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its fiscal year ended June 30—marking its 34th consecutive year of meeting top standards.
