- ➤ Three Williamson County groups won TN Recycling Awards as the Williamson County Solid Waste Department earned Government Recycler of the Year for its new mattress recycling program, the Green Team was named Non-Profit Recycler for its efforts in upcycling and composting, and India Savage received the TN Top Leader award for her work at the GM plant—recognizing their commitment to waste reduction. - ➤ On Sept. 9, the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved rezoning and development plans for two projects along McEwen Road. The Aureum plan passed unanimously while Ovation passed 6-1, and the proposals include 2,464 dwelling units, 750 hotel rooms and 1.75 million square feet of space with green features — like a pond and mountain bike trails — to support enhanced transit in the area. - ➤ Today, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security marked the 24th anniversary of Sept. 11 by sharing a message from Commissioner Jeff Long—honoring nearly 3,000 lives lost and the bravery of first responders.
