COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Memorial services have been scheduled for Denzel Santa Irwin, the beloved owner of Santa's Pub who passed away peacefully on September 13. Family members and the community will gather today at Williamson Memorial from 4-8 p.m.—a graveside service will follow on September 19 at Nolensville Cemetery.  Williamson County Source
  • St. Edward School first grader Luke McLean from Brentwood was named the first winner of Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee’s 16th annual Tennessee Titans Kids Captain contest after he stood at midfield for the coin toss before the Titans’ game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday—earning a field honor, tickets, a cap, and a jersey. The contest gives young Tennessee fans a unique chance to join the exciting game day experience.  Williamson County Source
  • Franklin Police Department will host its 2nd Annual Chicken with a Cop at Chick-fil-A on Wednesday, September 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.—residents will dine with officers and check out a Touch a Truck display in the parking lot.  Williamson County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • Eric Johnson will perform live at The Franklin Theatre on Sunday, October 19 at 7 p.m.—he is known for his outstanding guitar skills that draw music fans in Franklin.  Williamson County Source
  • Priscilla Presley will host a book release event at the Franklin Theatre on Thursday, September 24th at 7 pm—each general admission ticket costs $44 and includes a signed copy of her memoir Softly, as I Leave You. The event features a conversation with Ann Powers about her journey after Elvis.  Williamson County Source
  • Franklin native Tommy Jackson—preserver of traditional bluegrass music, dance and culture—received the Williamson County Cultural Arts Commission’s first annual Award of Excellence in the Arts. He has spent over 50 years teaching young dancers on the Square and keeping Appalachian traditions alive.  Williamson Herald
  • Todd Morgan stepped down as Studio Tenn's managing director after eight years of growth—his leadership brought the grand opening of Turner Theater and boosted the company's success during tough times. Interim managing director Jayson Campbell and interim executive director Tony McAlister now lead the nonprofit as it prepares a 2025–26 season opening on Oct. 9 with Dracula.  Williamson Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Tennessee Higher Education Commission announced that during College Application & Exploration Month, over 40 colleges and universities are waiving application fees to encourage students and families to apply to college—high school seniors are also urged to apply for the Tennessee Promise scholarship. The initiative offers free resources such as a fee waiver toolkit and instructional videos to guide applicants.  Williamson County Source
  • Not Your Average Bear Foundation announced registration is open for its third annual Randy King Memorial Golf Tournament that will take place on November 3 at the Nashville Golf and Athletic Club in Brentwood. Tournament proceeds will benefit collegiate scholarships for Williamson County students whose families have been affected by cancer — sponsorship opportunities range from $250 to $5000.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fairview Commissioner Donald Bufalini, Franklin Alderman Greg Caesar, Nolensville Commissioner Tyler Carpenter and Williamson County Trustee Karen Paris completed the Local Government Leadership Program in Franklin and joined 26 local officials to enhance their leadership skills. The multi-day event coordinated by the UT Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership focused on leadership assessments, team-building and addressing real-world public service challenges.  Williamson Herald
  • Williamson County EMA, TEMA and Lowe’s are hosting Tune It Tuesday, a weather radio programming event on Tuesday, September 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cool Springs Lowe’s store at 3060 Mallory Lane, where volunteers will help program NOAA weather radios—free batteries and a limited number of Midland models will be available as supplies last.  Williamson County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mi Kitchen at 9050 Carothers Parkway in Franklin received a health score of 61 on September 11th as inspectors found issues with worker hygiene, food and chemical storage and management oversight. Officials provided on-site training to correct the 12 new violations — they will monitor the restaurant for further improvements.  Williamson County Source
