- ➤ Williamson County Fire/Rescue will host a family-friendly open house on Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.—residents in Thompson’s Station can visit Station 23 at 1515 Thompson Station Road West to see fire demonstrations, games, and competitions and meet local firefighters. - ➤ Nearly 60 youths and families gathered at Montgomery Bell State Park on September 13 and 14 for the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance Seventh Annual Montgomery Bell Family Campout that offered fun outdoor activities. Participants enjoyed archery, fishing, scavenger hunts and wildlife painting—each child received a free fishing pole to help them explore nature. Williamson County Source

- ➤ The Grand Ole Opry will mark its 100th birthday month in October with shows, plaza parties, and guided backstage tours for Tennessee residents. A milestone concert is scheduled on Oct. 5—featuring special tailgate performances by Rhett Akins and exclusive birthday packages including commemorative items. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Pilgrimage Music — Cultural Festival will be held at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin on September 27-28 with headliners like John Mayer, Kings of Leon, and Turnpike Troubadours. - ➤ Grammy Award-winning musician Billy Strings will extend his winter headline tour with two nights at Bridgestone Arena and an exclusive lottery-based show at Ryman Auditorium on February 20—22; fans must first buy a Bridgestone ticket to qualify for the lottery. - ➤ Franklin High’s JROTC held its annual 9/11 ceremony on September 11th to remember nearly 3,000 lives lost in 2001—cadet Lieutenant Colonel James Land delivered a stirring speech urging unity and respect. The ceremony brought together cadets, faculty, parents, and community leaders—enhanced by the school band’s music as they honored everyday heroes. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Page High students held a sunrise tribute on the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks to honor fallen first responders as athletic teams climbed 2,071 steps to mark their sacrifice. Williamson County Source
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation issued a Code Orange Health Advisory for the Nashville area until midnight CDT on September 20 to warn active children and adults—and people with asthma—that elevated ozone levels may pose a health risk. - ➤ Franklin Transit Authority started a free lunchtime shuttle on Monday, Sept. 15 that runs every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with stops at Franklin Transit, Mellow Mushroom, The Factory at Franklin, and Franklin Square by Twine — the six-month pilot was launched to ease downtown parking issues and collect data on rider use. - ➤ Franklin Ward 1 Alderman Beverly Burger is running unopposed for reelection and vows to improve local infrastructure and balance new development—she plans to complete McEwen Drive Phase IV and work with state officials on the I-65/Murfreesboro Road interchange. Early voting runs from Oct 8—23 and election day is on Oct 28 from 7 a.m.—7 p.m. Williamson Herald
- ➤ The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is offering a free October handgun shooting and safety class in Franklin at the John I Easley Jr Criminal Justice Center—registration is now open. The three-week course meets Tuesday and Thursday nights to teach handgun basics, safety, and range skills with loaner handguns provided for both beginners and experienced shooters. - ➤ Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson gave his yearly Constitution Week proclamation to the DAR Old Glory Chapter in Franklin on Sept. 17—declaring Sept. 17—23 as Constitution Week and recognizing the group’s work honoring our nation's founding document. The DAR held a puppet show at the county library on Sept. 14 and will ring bells in downtown Franklin on Sunday—marking the Constitution's ratification. Williamson Herald
