  • Visit Franklin was named Destination Marketing Organization of the Year (Large Division) by the Tennessee Hospitality & Tourism Association after it launched digital campaigns and unified community brand messaging across Williamson County. The award was presented during the 2025 Stars of the Industry Purple Iris Awards ceremony held with the Governor’s Conference on Hospitality & Tourism.  Williamson Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Franklin author Jared Sullivan won the 2025 Tennessee Book Awards for nonfiction for his book Valley So Low—One Lawyer’s Fight for Justice in the Wake of America’s Great Coal Catastrophe. The book details the 2008 TVA power plant collapse in Kingston that spilled toxic coal sludge over hundreds of acres and led to a billion-dollar cleanup.  Williamson Herald
  • Franklin Theatre will host its annual Fear Fest this October—showing movies from kid-friendly fun to spine-tingling horror that get audiences in the Halloween spirit.  Williamson County Source
  • Morning Source interviewed Donna Vissman and Brandon about a documentary shown at the Nashville Film Festival that examined the closed Opryland theme park and its performers— the interview aired yesterday— and discussed why the park closed in 1997.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin Special District named David Roth as the new Transportation Supervisor and he brings over 30 years of operations management and logistics experience — including serving as a school bus driver — to oversee safe student transportation. He will use his skills to improve the district’s transportation services for schools.  Williamson County Source
  • The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is hiring a fully deputized, P.O.S.T. certified deputy for its Court Services Division. The role includes protecting courthouses—transporting inmates and serving warrants—while offering a starting pay of $32.30 per hour with shift differential, paid training, advancement, open range days, and a uniform allowance.  Williamson County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Western United Fish Company—doing business as Annasea Foods Group—has recalled 3,314.7 pounds of Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke sold at Costco across 31 states, including local stores, due to potential Listeria contamination from green onions used on September 17. The product was packaged in clear plastic clamshell containers with a pack date of September 18 and a sell-by date of September 22, and customers are advised to discard it for a refund at Costco.  Williamson County Source
