COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Franklin Transit Authority invites community members to attend three open house style workshops—one at Franklin Special School District Leadership Room on Tuesday, Sept.30, one at Franklin Library on Wednesday, Oct.1, and one at Columbia State Community College on Thursday, Oct.2—with options for online feedback to shape the future of transit in Franklin. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local comedy duo Austin and Colin created a video that reveals the complete lineup for Pilgrimage Festival happening September 27—28 at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin. The festival will feature live music by John Mayer, Kings of Leon and Turnpike Troubadours along with artisan shopping and local cuisine while a few tickets remain available. Williamson County Source
- ➤ The Heritage Ball, the longest running formal event in Williamson County (700 guests attend yearly) will take place on October 4 at the Bicentennial Park Pavilion in Franklin with a seated dinner, dancing and fundraising events. The event will also feature an online auction (active now and closing soon) for those unable to attend. Williamson County Source
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Franklin Band will perform at the 137th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena on January 1, 2026—its only high school band from Tennessee and one of only seven chosen worldwide. Director Dr. Michael Holland said the performance will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band’s parade history and the group is hosting a fundraiser until October 24 to support the trip. - ➤ Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Dennis Fetting will visit five Williamson County schools starting October 2 to talk with parents and educators about online safety—covering predator tactics, app risks, and steps to keep children safe. The sessions will start at 5:30 p.m. and be held at Mill Creek Middle on October 2, Fairview Middle on October 16, Grassland Middle on November 6, Spring Station Middle on November 13, and Legacy Middle on November 20. - ➤ Centennial High has tickets on sale for The Storyteller's Collective, a student-produced performance series running on October 1, 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. at Center Stage Theater at 5050 Mallory Lane in Franklin—featuring The Moon by CHS juniors, East of the Sun, West of the Moon: a Ballet, and The Little Prince with original music. - ➤ The Page Middle eighth-grade band was named a 2025 Mark of Excellence Commended Winner by the Foundation for Music Education after high-caliber performances during the 2024-25 school year + the directors Evan Burton and Carolyn Hankins led the team with strong support from students and parents. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two forums are scheduled for local voters to learn about candidates for the Board of Mayor and Alderman. The first forum is set for Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 6—8 p.m. at the Williamson County Administrative Complex, and the second will take place Monday, Oct. 6 from 5:30—7 p.m. at Columbia State Community College Williamson Campus. - ➤ The Franklin Fire Department started Fire Prevention Week to remind residents to be careful with lithium-ion batteries in cell phones, laptops, and e-bikes—asking them to charge safely and recycle batteries correctly. Mayor Dr. Ken Moore proclaimed that October 5–11 will be Fire Prevention Week while Fire Marshal Andy King said following these steps can help lower fire risks. Williamson County Source
