- ➤ FrankTown Open Hearts will break ground on a new 16,000 square foot facility for at-risk youth in Franklin on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at the site behind the Williamson County Public Library on Granbury and Academy Streets—Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson and FrankTown Executive Director Chris Barnhill are scheduled to speak, and the center will unite all programs under one roof after $7 million is raised toward the $9.25 million project. - ➤ Franklin Tomorrow is hosting Breakfast with the Mayors on Tuesday, Oct. 21—this event at Liberty Hall at The Factory gathers community members, civic leaders, and local officials to discuss building a healthy democracy. The free breakfast runs from 7-9 a.m. and welcomes middle school youth and older to join the conversation. Williamson Herald
- ➤ The 21st District Recovery Court board of directors will host its 15th annual Community Luncheon on Oct.20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at 110 Everbright Ave. in Franklin – the event will explain the court's alternative sentencing program for nonviolent offenders with addiction and feature Tennessean columnist Brad Schmitt along with the award presentation honoring Lacie Simonton. - ➤ The Sons of the American Revolution and local historic groups will hold a free grave marking ceremony on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library—unveiling a new gravestone and hosting a musket salute and biography for Revolutionary War Patriot Thomas Bradley. Williamson Herald
- ➤ Friends of Franklin Parks and The Chestnut Group will host the free second annual Painting the Parks art show at Hayes House — an event running from November 6 to November 9 that features local park scenes in watercolor, acrylic, and oil, with an art crawl on November 7 to raise funds for park preservation. - ➤ Williamson Health and Blood Assurance are hosting an indoor blood drive at Williamson Medical Center in the Willoughby Meeting Rooms—designed to help patients during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donations on Monday, Oct.13 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. will also enter donors into a drawing for a 12-foot-tall Halloween skeleton and may earn them an eGift card if they meet the criteria. - ➤ The Williamson Health Foundation hosted its first Health Honors event to honor supporters of its breast health service and raise funds for a hospital tower renovation at Williamson Medical Center—George and Megan Shinn co-hosted the event—and more than $1 million was raised with the capital campaign set to continue through December.
