Franklin-based OneGenAway is expanding food distribution to help over 690,000 Tennesseans who will lose SNAP benefits starting November 1 amid the government shutdown—starting November 4, the nonprofit will host drive-thru pickups and boost its home delivery, pop-up sites, and police-partnered food box programs to support those in need.

Franklin Parks’ Family Day is set for November 1 at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm on 239 Franklin Road with free rides, hay rides, a petting zoo, and other activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—a concert by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band with Stolen Silver will follow from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to honor veterans and first responders.

GraceWorks Ministries in Williamson County is preparing for more help requests as about 700,000 Tennesseans will lose SNAP benefits on November 1 due to the federal government shutdown—local residents are encouraged to donate funds and food to support neighbors facing grocery, rent, and utility challenges. The nonprofit, which served 13,517 locals last fiscal year, stands ready to assist families during this critical period.

Today, the Tennessee Agricultural Museum Association received a $19,500 grant from the state through the Tennessee State Museum to renovate four historic outbuildings by replacing porch boards and repairing doors while preserving original features—these updates will improve guest safety and accessibility ahead of the annual Tractor Show, with work expected to finish by April. The museum continues to share Tennessee’s agricultural history with over 15,000 yearly visitors.

WCS students can join the new Fire Management Services program at the Columbia State Community College campus to learn fire prevention, emergency response and incident command with help from Franklin Fire Department and the City of Franklin.

The program will permanently move to the new Innovation Center in August — offering dual enrollment courses and a pathway to public safety careers — to prepare students for tomorrow's roles.

Williamson County Schools celebrated the October Bus Drivers of the Month on October 22 by honoring six drivers—Chris Stringer, Jennie Talkington, Teri Simons, Ryan Capps, Shawn Linne and Larry Simons—who worked to keep students safe and on schedule.

Williamson County food service establishments received a perfect score of 100 on inspections from October 22 to October 29—health inspectors reviewed each site and ensured that the latest reports were publicly posted—confirming that local food safety standards were met.
