- ➤ The Franklin Fire Department recognized winners of its annual Fire Helmet Shield Design Contest at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on November 11—third grade student Sloane Morris won the grand prize with her design turned into a custom helmet shield for the mascot and a $100 Visa gift card while winners from each grade received a $50 gift card from Atmos Energy. - ➤ Williamson County Animal Center in Franklin is collecting new stuffed animals until December 12 to donate to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center for Christmas—small and medium sizes are preferred by the hospital to ease stress during treatments. Donations can be dropped off at the Adoption entrance during public hours: Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Williamson County Source
- ➤ Today, Franklin residents can catch Lee Roy Parnell's concert at Franklin Theatre at 8 p.m. and start shopping at Christmas Village at Nashville Fairgrounds from 9 a.m.—events that mark the opening of local weekend festivities. Additional activities include the Franklin Makers Market on November 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Holiday Market at The Lodge in Spring Hill from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a Goat Yoga class in Nolensville at 10:30 a.m.—offering family-friendly options across the region. - ➤ The Franklin Police Department launched its annual Holiday Toy Drive, asking residents to drop off new, unwrapped toys for children and teens at Police Headquarters at 900 Columbia Ave from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The drive, which will last until Thursday, Dec. 18, honors the memory of Kristi, Carter and Brad — whose legacy of kindness inspires the community to give hope this holiday season. - ➤ This November, several holiday events will take place for families in Franklin and nearby areas—offering activities from ice tubing and synchronized light displays at Gaylord Opryland and Cheekwood to festive teas and pop-up lounges in Nashville and Lebanon. - ➤ Today, Franklin firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at Bowers Park 1 — a five-story office building at 6640 Carothers Parkway — after a 5:42 a.m. call revealed an electrical blaze near a side door, and they remained about an hour to clear smoke and check air quality with no injuries or business disruptions reported. - ➤ Tio Fun Mexican Munchies at 901 Columbia Avenue near downtown Franklin announced that it will close its doors at the end of this week after less than two years in business. Founders Mikey Corona and Brian Riggenbach said the Franklin location will end while the Nashville outlet at 1008 Buchanan Street remains open. Williamson County Source
