COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Franklin Police are offering free child car seat installations this holiday season—residents must call 615-794-2513 to schedule an appointment at police headquarters on Columbia Avenue to ensure proper installation for families.  Williamson County Source
  • The Franklin Fire Department is mourning retired Lieutenant George Sanford, who served 25 years and died Dec. 15; his memorial events include lying in state Friday, Dec. 19 at Waters Funeral Home and visitation Saturday, Dec. 20 at West Harpeth Primitive Baptist Church with interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens afterward.  Williamson County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, HARDY hosted a songwriter session in the CMA Theater (he is known for writing several chart-topping country hits) as part of the American Currents: State of the Music exhibition. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Williamson County native Westley Hunter graduated early on Friday, Dec. 12 from Tennessee Tech with a marketing degree and founded the Sales Excellence Team (a new club with about two dozen members) while speaking at Williamson Inc.’s panel in Franklin.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin FD's Lt. David Metcalf is retiring at the end of this week after 35 years of service. His retirement celebration will be held Friday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. at Franklin Fire Station 8 (200 Front Street in Westhaven).  Williamson County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • On December 15, 2025, Filip Forsberg netted three goals as the Predators beat the Blues 5-2 at Enterprise Center before 18,096 fans (assisted by Ryan O'Reilly and Brady Skjei). He scored 27 seconds into the game and capped the win with an empty-net goal.  Williamson County Source
  • Nick Saban and his partner Joe Agresti acquired a minority stake in the Predators through Dream Sports Ventures LLC, announced by franchise chairman Bill Haslam yesterday. Saban, a seven-time college national champion (retired coach), plans to bring his competitive spirit to the team’s future efforts.  Williamson County Source
  • Williamson County schools kicked off their basketball season when IHS boys won 50+45 over the Admirals and IHS girls beat Franklin 58+42 on Dec. 2 in Thompson’s Station.  Williamson County Source
