COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Several holiday light displays are open for family fun across the area. In Franklin, the FrankTown Festival of Lights at Williamson County Agricultural Center runs nightly from 5 to 9 with $39.84 per car (and other nearby events offer free or donation-based entry).  Williamson County Source
  • Franklin Police thanked the community after receiving hundreds of toy donations delivered on Friday from the Holiday Toy Drive. Police Chief Deb Faulkner said the donations honored Brad Lewis (who handcrafted the wooden toy chests) and brightened the season for local children.  Williamson Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Signups are open for the 2026 Tennessee Songwriters Week (featuring all music genres) with qualifying rounds starting late January at over 60 venues statewide including a Feb. 26 showcase at Franklin Theatre, offering songwriters a chance to perform at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe and win prizes.  Williamson County Source

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • TWRA detected chronic wasting disease in hunter-harvested deer from Dickson & Williamson counties, marking the first positive cases in both areas. Hunters can now join the Earn-a-Buck Program while TWRA increases testing and monitoring in response to the findings.  Williamson County Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The League of Women Voters of Williamson County will host Deborah Fisher, executive director of Tennessee Coalition for Open Government, on Jan. 21 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Williamson County Public Library at 1314 Columbia Ave.  Williamson Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Franklin food service establishments received routine health inspection scores from the Department of Health for December 17-23, with sites including Subway, Nashville Pizza Company, and The Pasta Bar Company posting their scores publicly (details are available at county offices).  Williamson County Source
  • Williamson Health Foundation will host its first Women’s Health Panel Series Luncheon of 2026 titled 'Thrive: A Journey to Better Living' on Wed, Jan. 14 at The Sapphire Suite in Franklin. Attendees will learn about heart and mental health, including hands-only CPR (tickets cost $25).  Williamson County Source
  • Williamson Medical Center was named to Forbes Magazine’s Top Hospitals 2026 list, making it one of only 253 hospitals nationwide to earn a five-star rating. The Franklin facility said the honor shows its strong commitment to quality care.  Williamson Herald
