Williamson County Animal Center is collecting new stuffed animals for young hospital patients

If you've got a soft spot for a good cause, Williamson County Animal Center is collecting stuffed animals through Dec. 12 for patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center. The center delivered several boxes after last year's first collection, and this year's drive is called "Dasher's Delivery."

Dec. 12last day to donate to the Dasher's Delivery drive

The animal center is collecting new stuffed animals through that date.

  • Only new stuffed animals are accepted
  • Small or medium sizes are preferred
  • Drop off inside the Adoption entrance during public hours
  • Address: 1006 Grigsby Hayes Court, Franklin

“The Foundation accepts donations from the community and gives them to our Child Life Specialist who helps children and their families cope with stress.”

Donna DeJaynes, Williamson Health Foundation's philanthropy manager

Stuffed animals can help children feel less anxious and give them a distraction during uncomfortable procedures, DeJaynes said.

After a long day at work, I was exhausted and ready to head home and call it a day.

“I had one more stop to make, though — a visit with my grandkids. I was only planning to stay a little while. Somehow, they managed to convince me to stay and watch a movie with them. And just like that, my plans for a quiet evening changed. Sometimes the best moments are the ones you didn't plan. Family time. ❤️”
